Premm do Proms

Despite writing what was thought as the most witty and intellectual post ever to grace the internet it turned out that the iPhone WordPress app that it was written on, thought otherwise. So to save writing this twice, I will keep this short.

On 26 August the team here at Premm HQ headed off to an evening at the BBC Proms. This years concert of choice was the spectacular Jamie Cullum Proms. As described by the Guardian, ‘Jamie hurled himself into a show as if he wanted nothing more than for the crowd to go home happy’ and that we did.

Cupcaked

To our disappointment a new shop called Yummishes has just opened over the road from the Premm studio, selling nothing but delicious cupcakes! So Wendy kindly popped over to investigate and came back to the studio loaded with goodies. Everyone is hoping that this will be a regular thing.

Proms Out+About at Westfield, London

Anyone doing a spot of shopping at Westfield (London) last Friday evening was in for a treat, as the full force of the BBC Symphony Orchestra was there giving a free concert to promote the upcoming Proms season (starts Friday 16 July). BBC Presenter Katie Derham guided an attentive audience through a World Cup inspired programme of classical favourites and contemporary music. We applied the Proms Out+About branding to flyers, posters, the stage backdrop and those rather complimentary yellow and purple T-shirts…

En-ger-land

To show support for England, the premm team were dragged kicking and screaming early away from their desks at 2.30pm to the pub to celebrate England’s 1-0 win against Slovenia.

Pick me up

On an adventure to expand our creative minds and to hopefully pick up a bargain, both Kevin and myself (Neil Wearing) decided a trip to Somerset House to visit the UK’s first contemporary graphic art fair ‘Pick me up’.

The work is by an international selection of graphic artists and illustrators who represent the diversity of styles, methods, techniques and applications that are being used, combined and re-combined in the world of graphic design and illustration today. Most of the work on display is for sale ranging from a simple £20 to a massive £5000 (although could be more, that was the largest sum I spotted on my jaunt around the various pieces).

The most interesting feature has got to be Rob Ryan’s relocated studio, allowing a fantastic insight into their working practice.

Swain’s world

Katie, junior designer at Premm, recently took part in a building project for Watoto in Africa. Watoto (‘child’ in Swahili) is an organisation that cares for orphaned children and widows in Uganda, East Africa, building villages and raising future leaders. Katie, with 11 other volunteers, raised nearly £20,000 for the charity as well as traveling out to Uganda to be part of the building work. www.watoto.com
