Premm & The Prince’s Trust

It is always great to be able to announce new client relationships and we are thrilled to have completed our first project with The Prince’s Trust recently. The Adviser Support Pack is for those running the xl programme and consists of a series of eight brochures that provide teaching and learning resources for Advisers to help them work with the young people in The Prince’s Trust xl clubs. This initiative from The Prince’s Trust provides a personal development programme aimed at young people aged 13-19 at risk of underachievement or exclusion from school. Find out more about the club here.

Birds and Beasts at Origin 2011

The 2011 London Design Festival concluded this weekend, and I paid a visit to the Origin Contemporary Craft Fair at Spitalfields Market on Sunday. Highlights for me included the fabulous felt work of Barbara Keal, the delicate jewellery of Julia Parry-Jones and the witty knitwear of Nina Führer. The show continues until Wednesday 28 September with an inspiring collection of over 200 exhibitors working in ceramics, paper, glass, metal, textiles, furniture, jewellery etc. www.originuk.org

Live ‘n’ Deadly

Live ‘n’ Deadly is CBBC’s wildlife and adventure show for kids, fronted by Steve Backshall and Naomi Wilkinson. Their mission is to get kids outside and closer to wildlife. DSI: Deadly Scene Investigation is a brand new activity to get families exploring the natural world! Each child is given a Deadly Detective’s booklet before exploring the reserve to look for clues; can you work out who has eaten who? The booklet includes a range of activities, to encourage families to enjoy the nature and wildlife, and a series of puzzles, which help children to solve the Deadly Scene. The activity has been devised by BBC Learning with Premm commissioned to design all of the materials. Click here

The end of an era

For 25 years it has been landing on our doormats on a weekly basis, keeping us informed of the most recent news and developments in the design industry and occasionally mentioning Premm too! But from this week onwards Design Week will be a digital-only publication. It is going to take a bit of getting to used to, and we will certainly miss the printed edition, but we look forward to seeing the new improved online version.

Record breaking sales for the BBC Proms

A record number of BBC Proms tickets were sold within the first 12 hours of being made available, the BBC has announced. More than 85,000 were shifted – up by 7% compared with last year – and 376 tickets were sold every minute in the first hour. Proms director Roger Wright said: “We’re delighted that so many people have been able to get their tickets successfully and look forward to welcoming them to the Proms this summer.” After creating the BBC Proms branding earlier in 2011, Premm are currently working on additional marketing materials for the season that runs from the 15 July through to 10 September. Don’t forget you can still turn up on the day and Prom for only £5, even if your favourite concert is sold out!

Intranet site for award-winning property developer

Following Kajima’s move into their new UK headquarters at 55 Baker Street in March, and the successful launch of their new identity programme and the corporate website in 2010. Premm have now been commissioned to design and programme a new intranet site for their UK based people. As well as links to their various HR systems and a central source for all download templates, the brief was to create a booking system for their many meeting rooms that would enable the intranet to link to ‘outlook’ to create meetings, order catering and send out email notifications.

BBC Proms 2011

Premm have been commissioned by the BBC to produce the brand and implementation for the 2011 BBC Proms season. Working with californian-based illustrator Justin Krietemeyer on the core brand image, Premm have also produced the design of the BBC Proms guide which will be available for sale following the launch of the season on the 14 April. The BBC Proms runs from the 15 July through to the Last Night on the 10 September. Martin Premm-Jones, Director of Premm said; ’Working closely with the BBC Proms team we wanted to make sure the 2011 image made the world’s greatest classical music festival as accessible as possible. Creating a summer festival atmosphere that would entice the public to embark on a musical journey through attending the concerts or through listening and watching via the BBC’s many broadcast channels.”

Pick Me Up Again

Sunday was the last day of this year’s Pick Me Up exhibition at Somerset House. I really enjoyed my visit, with some familiar faces from 2010 alongside a number of new exhibitors. Personal highlights from the Pick Me Up Selects artists included the gorgeous letterpress of Jessica Hische, the quirky cartoons of Tom Gauld and the strangely beautiful information graphics of Stefanie Posavec.
