Twelfth Night was the chosen play this year for the 2016 performance; and one of Shakespeare’s more tragic comedies focusing on love, loss, identity and the sea.
In contrast to last years design for the production of Othello, Twelfth Night’s main concept focused on using photography of one of the cast members. This was an interesting process for us as we had to come up with a look and feel for the promotional materials without having the central headshot of the main cast member we were to be using.
Once the photoshoot had been carried out, with our mockup as reference for art direction, we were able to choose the best portrait from the selection of images and then edit this into the composition we had designed. The result could then be applied to posters and the programme cover.
Since 2007, Globe Education, with the generous support of Deutsche Bank, have been creating theatre for young people. In that time, over 20,000 have received free tickets for a performance at Shakespeare’s Globe created especially for them. For more information visit www.playingshakespeare.org.
