‘Bodoni in Print is an exhibition taking you through a journey of typography. From its Italian roots to contemporary use, including posters and packaging from the incredible archives of Monotype, Aiap and the Museum of Bodoni.’
Last night Jess, along with designer and blogger friend Natasha, journeyed to the heart of Shoreditch to Protein Studio for the Fedrigoni ‘Made in Italy’ launch event. Bodoni in Print was the perfect way to introduce the design community to this new range of stocks. The archive on display included drawings, matrices and gorgeous examples of the way in which designers over the past few decades had used this typeface; from it’s Italian roots to the modern day.
Plus, who doesn’t love freebies, I know we do! A1 replicas of Congresso AGI Berlin, designed by Heinz Waibl in 2005, was one of the goodies on offer printed on the new stocks. Along with the programme, Pulp quarterly journal for people and paper added a splash of colour (here at Premm we always love a bit of orange!) and not forgetting to mention the samples packs themselves. Of course Natasha and I were delighted with this and filled up our Made in Italy branded carriers.
The design industry always seems to be about who you know, and one of Jess’ fellow University of Lincoln alumni was also at the event. Connor Robertson, who was lucky enough to start working at SEA Design post-internship, worked on the Made in Italy campaign which was being showcased. This is also not mention how we managed to snag an invitation to the private view!
Are you planning on popping by? The Bodoni in Print exhibition at the Protein Studio 2 is open this weekend only! So make sure you don’t miss out on seeing the beautiful collection of archived materials and original sketches of this fabulous typeface.
