One thing the lockdown has given some of us is the opportunity to indulge in creative pursuits. A number of the Premm (extended) family have taken part in one such endeavour – producing illustrative portraits of English Premier League footballers for the MIFA 2020 project.
MIFA – Missing In (the) Football Album – is the brainchild of designer, illustrator & art director Dave Will. Originally conceived in 2018 when Dave had the idea to illustrate all 254 players missing from the Official World Cup Sticker book, with over 200 artists, illustrators and designers taking part.
The project was repeated in 2019 for the Women’s World Cup and on each occasion, thousands of pounds were raised for charity from sales of limited edition books featuring the collected entries.
The ambitious idea with MIFA 2020 was to populate the full 2020 Panini album with over 650 replacement stickers. For a small donation, artists were able to select a player of their choice and prepare an alternative sticker design, using a supplied template.
Kevin, Sophie, Stuart and Stuart’s son James have all taken part in the project, which has now raised over £3000 for the Fans Supporting Foodbanks charity. Dave is printing out and putting the stickers in by hand as they are completed – we can’t wait to see the finished album!
Portrait credits as follows – Naby Keita & Ben Foster by Kevin McDermott, Gary Cahill by Sophie Adams, Angelo Ogbonna by Stuart Smith and Pedro Rodriguez by James Smith. Album images are taken from Dave Will’s Instagram.
