We’ve swabbed the decks!

Tuesday 25 August 2020

Premm were approached by Portsmouth Historic Dockyard recently to work on their brand refresh. They were looking for something that would take the existing visual identity and bring a simplified, refreshed and a contemporary approach to it. The identity also had to work as an umbrella brand, tying in with other attractions such as the Mary Rose Museum and the National Museum of the Royal Navy. We decided to simplify down the current flags so they just stood for the brand initials PHD, this also allowed...

Player portraits

One thing the lockdown has given some of us is the opportunity to indulge in creative pursuits. A number of the Premm (extended) family have taken part in one such endeavour – producing illustrative portraits of English Premier League footballers for the MIFA 2020 project. MIFA – Missing In (the) Football Album – is the brainchild of designer, illustrator & art director Dave Will. Originally conceived in 2018 when Dave had the idea to illustrate all 254 players missing from the Official...

Tuesday 04 February 2020

Premm has recently worked with Directors UK to design a guide to help the industry manage a safe environment for all involved in filming scenes involving nudity and simulated sex. Directors UK, the association that represents UK TV and film directors recommends best practice for working with actors, intimacy coordinators, and the industry as a whole. “Everyone deserves the right to feel safe at work,” say Directors UK. “This is just as true when working on a Hollywood blockbuster...

On the record

Wednesday 22 January 2020

Back in 2016, we shared our branding work for the St John’s Cambridge record label (in partnership with Signum Records). The label releases new recordings by the internationally-renowned Choir of St John’s Cambridge, and students and alumni of St John’s College, one of the oldest and largest colleges in the University of Cambridge. During the branding process, we suggested that the new logo and typography could be combined with circular images on record covers with a view to creating...

It’s beginning to look a lot like… Christmas at Kew

Wednesday 18 December 2019

This year the Premm team headed to Kew Gardens for our sparkling Christmas party. Christmas at Kew is a magical light trail across the gardens at night, showcasing everything from dynamic laser projections, tunnels of light and illuminated trees. Now in its 7th year, the event had grown the trail with new immersive pieces, but also still hosted some original features such as the flickering Fire Garden and the singing Holly Bushes. One of our favourite installations was the Treetop Walkway, where...

Once more unto the breach, dear friends!

Friday 01 November 2019

This was Premm’s second year working on Our Theatre, a community based schools programme run by Shakespeare’s Globe and performed inside the iconic Sam Wannamaker Playhouse. The performance for 2019 is Henry V and is unique due to it being split into 5 Acts, with a different group/school taking one each to create a varied piece of storytelling. The Harris Foundation for Lifelong Learning is supporting the production again and believes putting on performances such as Our Theatre develops...
