The event represented multiple cultures and cultural traditions from bhangra dancing to wassails and included roaming street performers, crafts, storytelling, food stalls across The Queen’s Gardens, Katharine Street and Surrey Street. A fair taking place in central Croydon is not something new as The Walnut Fair took place in the 14th Century, moved to various locations around the town before ending up at Fair Field where the present Fairfield Halls sits today.
The campaign had to appeal to both local and neighbouring communities as well as London, South East and even beyond. It had to entice people of all ages, ethnicities, cultures with an emphasis on families. We used an illustrative approach to reflect this diversity and also create a sense of fun to encompass what the event was all about. These elements also allowed for formatting in various sizes with ease on both print and digital.
