Confront what it means to be human

Friday 22 September 2017

The Guildhall Art Gallery’s new exhibition ‘Nature Morte’, based on Michael Petry’s recent book of the same title, explores the transience of time and the issue of mortality as traditional 16th century still life meets modern day art. Premm were invited to create the look and feel, promotional items and internal signage for this exhibition containing 100 works covering the themes of flora, fauna, the domestic object, food and vanitas (a category of symbolic works of art, especially those...

RHS Qualifications stand at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2017

Our work with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) covers a wide range of the organisation’s activities – from their gardens to membership, retail and education. One such project for RHS Qualifications saw us tasked with creation of graphic panels for their stand at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, which was built to look like a miniature potting shed! The panels were a mixture of inspirational quotes, engaging imagery and info graphics, all styled to sit comfortably within the space and...

Rooms without a view

Tuesday 11 July 2017

We were commissioned to art direct two photo shoots – creating a suite of images for the Churchill War Rooms to be used on all platforms to help promote the venue. The secret WW2 bunker and museum, situated near the Houses of Parliament, consistently features in the top 10 lists of popular London attractions.  Working with photographer Simon Keats, the two night shoots allowed us to cover the modern museum space and the underground bunkers that protected the staff and the secrets of Britain’s...

Watching the Watchman

Thursday 27 October 2016

Kevin was fortunate enough to be able to attend last night’s talk by comics legend Dave Gibbons at The Lightbox gallery and museum in Woking. It was a great opportunity to hear from a man who has been involved in the creation of some of the most iconic characters in comics, from his work on 2000AD to Dr Who, Green Lantern, Superman, Batman, Martha Washington and, of course, Watchmen. The illustrated lecture on his career had an educational focus to it, from Dave’s own schooldays –...

Show Sixteen

Tuesday 31 May 2016

For the past couple of years Sophie has travelled back to the University of Lincoln, where she graduated from in 2011, to do a bit of talent spotting at the Graphic Design Degree Show. Last year Sophie attended Show{Fifteen} and recruited me to intern here at Premm. It’s amazing how time flies, because that it’s that time of year again, but this time it was my turn – having since joined the Premm team as a designer – travelling back to Lincoln, now as alumni, with fellow designer and blogger...

Pick Me Up 2016, Kitching & Friends!

Friday 29 April 2016

It is very rare we get the chance to go out as a whole bunch of us from Premm, so when Pick Me Up opened its doors at Somerset House for 2016 we were all very much up for it! I mean who doesn’t love seeing what the cultural arts have to offer each year, especially when some bring such a smile to your face like these Little ‘Floam Buddy’s’ did to Jess’. (Pictured: Floam Buddy TRIO, by Julian Glander) We all had our favourite pieces, Sophie was particularly taken with these beautiful Pastel...

Commute Nice London

Tuesday 21 July 2015

As many of the Premm employees are keen cyclists we decided to see what the Commute Nice London exhibition at KK Outlet was about this weekend. The pieces focus on the hate towards, and from, cyclists on the roads. Statistics reflect this hatred, 23,000 accidents and 80 deaths in London in the last 5 years, so far 8 people have died in bike accidents this year alone.   The exhibition features a great line up of illustrators, artists and designers. Sophie’s favourite contributor was Alex...

Comics Unmasked at the British Library

Thursday 26 June 2014

Comics Unmasked

Earlier this week I was fortunate enough to be able to pay the British Library a visit to see the ‘Comics Unmasked’ exhibition. The show reads like a who’s who of the British comics scene from Jamie Hewlett, artistic director Dave McKean, Frank Quitely, Simon Bisley, Mike McMahon, Neil Gaiman and Dave Gibbons plus many more leading lights from the industry. The opportunity to see original artwork from titles such as ‘V for Vendetta’ and particularly some of McKean’s...
