Bridge of Sighs, St John's College, Cambridge

Premm recently won a tender for St John’s College, Cambridge, developing a distinctive brand for the new St John’s Cambridge record label in partnership with Signum Classics. The internationally-renowned Choir of St John’s Cambridge is the main artist on the new label, so the decision was made to build on the strength of its branding and that of St John’s College, one of the largest colleges in the University of Cambridge. The Bridge of Sighs (pictured at the top of this post) is an iconic...

What country, friends, is this?

Tuesday 08 March 2016

Twelfth Night was the chosen play this year for the 2016 performance; and one of Shakespeare’s more tragic comedies focusing on love, loss, identity and the sea. In contrast to last years design for the production of Othello, Twelfth Night’s main concept focused on using photography of one of the cast members. This was an interesting process for us...

Grand Budapest Hotel Poster

Last week saw Premm representation at two evening events with contrasting creative themes. On Tuesday, we were in attendance at St Bride Foundation to hear Annie Atkins talk us through her career as a graphic designer for film. Focussing on her work on the Wes Andersen movie ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, we were treated to a peek behind the scenes into what is required to create the multitude of props and graphic set pieces needed to create a believable environment for the audience and...

Following the success of the LiberTeas campaign for The Houses of Parliament, Premm were invited by the National Trust to tender for the branding of their Magna Carta Runnymede celebrations on 15 June. The brief was to produce a programme and branding for the day of celebrations that reflected the magnitude and importance of the signing of the Magna Carta, 800 years ago. Tuesday 17 February 2015

Sophie went back up to her old university this week to run the second half of her hand lettering workshop, Show me a sign, with the second year Lincoln Graphic Design students. She started off by speaking about the history of signage, sharing examples of hand lettering that inspire her and showing some of her own work. The students were then set the task of creating their own signs. Some began researching for more inspiration while others went straight to pen and paper to work out some ideas. This...
