Event Goodies

Who doesn’t like free beer, free food and not to mention… FREE PAPER?! As designers we tend to get a tad excited by new ranges and stocks. So, when our newest recruit Jessica got the opportunity to tag along with designer and blogger friend Natasha to G.F Smith’s launch party for their new Gmund Applied collection, she jumped at the chance. Held in the basement of Bierschenke, London’s Authentic Munich Beer Hall at Moorgate. We descended down the steps and were greeted by a designer’s...

What country, friends, is this?

Tuesday 08 March 2016

Premm has been commissioned to work on promotional materials for the Globe Theatre’s Playing Shakespeare production now for 5 consecutive years. Twelfth Night was the chosen play this year for the 2016 performance; and one of Shakespeare’s more tragic comedies focusing on love, loss, identity and the sea. In contrast to last years design for the production of Othello, Twelfth Night’s main concept focused on using photography of one of the cast members. This was an interesting process for us...

Grand Budapest Hotel Poster

Last week saw Premm representation at two evening events with contrasting creative themes. On Tuesday, we were in attendance at St Bride Foundation to hear Annie Atkins talk us through her career as a graphic designer for film. Focussing on her work on the Wes Andersen movie ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, we were treated to a peek behind the scenes into what is required to create the multitude of props and graphic set pieces needed to create a believable environment for the audience and...

A mindfulness opera

Friday 06 November 2015

Premm had the great pleasure of recently working on the latest production by Mahogany Opera Group, Lost in Thought, the world’s first ‘mindfulness opera’. Based on the classic structure of an extended meditation, it explores the points of contact between sound and silence in music and meditation.  The production has been specially designed for an intimate audience, with the boundaries between performer and audience blurring as you go on an inner journey of mindfulness, with periods of meditation,...

Commute Nice London

Tuesday 21 July 2015

As many of the Premm employees are keen cyclists we decided to see what the Commute Nice London exhibition at KK Outlet was about this weekend. The pieces focus on the hate towards, and from, cyclists on the roads. Statistics reflect this hatred, 23,000 accidents and 80 deaths in London in the last 5 years, so far 8 people have died in bike accidents this year alone.   The exhibition features a great line up of illustrators, artists and designers. Sophie’s favourite contributor was Alex...

Pick Me Up 2015

Thursday 30 April 2015

Pick Me Up is the UK’s first annual contemporary graphic art fair, showcasing the best new talent and also carrying out a multitude of events and workshops ranging from traditional screen-printing and animation, to risograph printing and paper craft. This year it felt particularly close to home for us, as both Hattie Newman, and the piece we worked on with her, featured in the event. She had a lovely display downstairs featuring photographs of her work as well as 3D models and sketchbooks she had...

Glug London – Super Bold Max

Monday 16 March 2015

Glug Stage

Last Thursday night, a few of us went to Glug London, an event for the design and creative community based around a series of talks and informal networking. The theme was ‘Future Fifteen’, focussing in particular on interactive and digital media. Established in 2007, Glug was trialling Fabric Nightclub as its new venue this year, which provided plenty of cavernous space for the 800 attendees, including two rooms between which the talks were shared. Having secured seats in Room 2, we saw...
